What the standard actually harmonizes

The group standard T/SDPIA 23—2026 ("fresh-steamed pet dry food") pulls the loosely used marketing term "fresh-steamed" onto one shared ruler: it sets testable boundaries for fresh-meat inclusion, steaming temperature and time, water activity, kibble stability and label claims. For brands, "fresh-steamed" stops being a slogan and becomes a promise verifiable against raw-material batches and process parameters.

The three things brands should watch

  • Fresh-meat ratio: check whether the top three ingredients are real fresh meat and their share, not meat meal with a token splash of fresh meat.
  • Process parameters: steaming temperature, time and the drying curve after it decide nutrient retention and shelf stability; ask the factory for process records.
  • Label consistency: pack claims must match inspection reports; under the standard, channels and regulators will verify accordingly.

Why this matters when choosing a manufacturer

A factory that can organize production to the standard and provide outgoing inspection plus retained samples is far less likely to expose you to a gap between a "fresh-steamed" claim and the actual process. Treat the standard as a supplier-entry gate, not paperwork filled in just before launch.
